Oracle BI and Hyperion EPM Demo Images on Windows

Oracle's Business Intelligence Challenge To Go (BIC2g) demo environment has been extended to the Windows operating system through an exclusive arrangement with Vlamis Software Solutions, Microsoft, and Oracle. In the June 2009 image, the BIC2g: BI and BIC2g: EPM (Hyperion EPM) images have been combined and the Oracle software has been updated to the latest releases as of June 2009. These virtual machines contain a complete demonstration and training environment, with data sets, and demo scripts to support customer demos. It's also an ideal platform to support proofs of concept. They are available for purchase by Oracle Partner Network members.

BIC2g: BI & EPM is available in two different options: a Microsoft VHD image that includes an evaluation license of Microsoft Server 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007 and a fully licensed VMware image that includes OEM licenses for Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business.

Background

Before the availability of this program, partners had to install and configure all of the software and load demos manually. These demo VMs greatly simplify the construction of a demo environment. All you need to do is install the VMware Player/Server software, and load the VM purchased from Vlamis Software. The virtual machine has everything you need to run the demonstration within the VM. Although the VMs can be configured to connect to the internet, it is not necessary to connect to the internet to give demonstrations to customers.

Previous Linux versions of the BIC2g required Windows client installs, creating configuration challenges. Further, the March 2009 BIC2g Windows release packaged BI and EPM separately, so for those interested in Oracle's complete BI/EPM solution, they needed to purchase and manage two images. This is the first complete image with all BI and EPM technology and application solutions.

The Microsoft VHD Image with Evaluation License includes a "trial" copy of Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition which we are allowed to distribute freely, hence the lower price. For those wanting an unlimited VM for permanent use, we offer a VM that uses VMware with a licensed OEM copy of Windows Sever 2003 Standard Edition and Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business. For those wanting to build their own VMs, we offer an option to build your own VM using VMware and your own Windows Server 2003 license.

BIC2g: BI & EPM is available in three different options:

Option 1: Microsoft VHD Image with Evaluation License

The BIC2g: BI & EPM demo image operates on an evaluation licensed copy of Microsoft Server 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007 operational for a 30 day period once the extracted image is booted. US$495 per copy. NOTE: Since the Microsoft License expires January 2010, we are no longer offering this option for the June 2009 release.

Option 2: VMware Image with OEM Microsoft Licenses

The BIC2g: BI & EPM demo image operates on fully-licensed OEM copy of Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business. US$1795 per copy. License is restricted to a single machine installation. Microsoft license certificates are included.

Option 3: Files and instructions to build your own VMware Image

We can deliver the files necessary for you to build a VMware image using your own Windows Server 2003 license, PCmover, and files and instructions we supply. We include up to three hours of support to help with the process of building the image. US$1995 for up to three named users of the resulting virtual machines.

For all options, the software is delivered compressed on a 32 gigabyte flash drive. Please allow 5 to 10 business days for processing. A current Oracle Partner Network membership is required before purchases can be processed. Support for installing and configuring the image is available for all options.
